Telecom panel meets companies on call drop in Gurugram

TT Correspondent | 29 Dec 2018

In order to address call drop and mobile network issues, deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh on Thursday held a meeting with the representatives of telecom services and asked them take steps to resolve this issue.

A committee formed by the MCG in 2017, consisting of engineers, telecom officials and MCG staff, to handle telecom-related issues in Gurugram district, informed the representatives that several users have time and again raised complaints related to network failure and call drop.

During the meeting, Singh asked the representatives to identify ‘dark zones’ in the district within three weeks and submit a report. A member of the committee, Raman Malik, pointed out that several users were troubled by promotional calls from representatives of real estate companies and telemarketing firms. To this, a representative of a popular telecom company said, “Users can download a mobile application — TRAI DND 2.O — and complain on the portal. Following the complaint, the caller’s mobile or telephone number will be blocked within three days of the complaint being registered. All telecom users can avail this facility.”

“There will be improvement in the mobile network connectivity and problems of call drop will also be reduced as telecommunication infrastructure is going to improve in the district soon,” Singh told TOI.

He also clarified that if a complaint related to tower radiation comes up, the same can be clarified with the department of telecommunications. “If the range of radiation is found exceeding the safe limit, the concerned telecom company will be given a week’s time to fix the level or else the tower will be sealed,” Singh added.
