Govt appoints Anshu Prakash as new telecom secretary

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) Wednesday cleared the appointment of Anshu Prakash as the new secretary in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), replacing incumbent Aruna Sundararajan, a Kerala cadre 1982-batch IAS officer, who is retiring on July 31 after a two-year stint. Prakash, a 1986-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre has been currently working as an additional secretary in the telecom department.

Xiaomi India's sales head for brick-and-mortar trade Deepak Nakra has put in his papers and joined rival Realme India as its overall sales head. Nakra's Linkedin profile confirmed the move. Pravin Kumar Purwar appointed as CMD BSNL

Pravin Kumar Purwar was on Tuesday appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), according to an official order. Purwar is at present CMD of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). He has been appointed as the CMD, BSNL, for a period of five years, the order issued by the Personnel Ministry said.

Coolpad appoints Fisher Yuan as India CEO to drive handset growth in India

Chinese handset maker Coolpad has appointed Fisher Yuan as its new India chief executing officer to drive growth for the company. Fisher will create a strategic roadmap for optimum market penetration on the back of the brand’s consumer-centric R&D practices. DoT extends suspension of official Ashish Joshi for another six months

The telecom department is learnt to have extended suspension of Uttarakhand-based officer Ashish Joshi - who had written to Delhi Police to take action against a rebel AAP MLA for posting an ''incendiary'' video online. "DoT has extended suspension of Ashish Joshi, former controller of communication accounts, for a period of 180 days beyond initial 180 days of suspension. No reason has been explained in the order copy," an official source told.

Tata Communications announced the resignation of G Narendra Nath from its board of directors and the appointment of two new additional directors - Rajesh Sharma and Maruthi Prasad Tangirala. Govt named Pravin Kumar Purwar as new BSNL CMD

The government Tuesday named Pravin Kumar Purwar as the new chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of state-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), considering nine candidates, has selected Purwar to take charge of a new role after current BSNL chairman Anupam Shrivastava demits office in June, 2019. Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan was also present in today's meeting. In May 2018, Purwar was confirmed as a full-time chairman of MTNL, after holding an interim charge.

Avaya appoints Sanjay Pai as regional sales director for India market
