Coolpad plans to release its first 5G-ready smartphones in Indian market

Coolpad announced its plans of releasing its first 5G-ready smartphones in the Indian market. In an official release, Coolpad said that it has been investing in the new-age 5G technology since 2012 and has filled more than 800 patents related to the technology. Coolpad further plans to invest USD 500 million in India in the next five years. It is not clear as to when exactly Coolpad plans to release a 5G device, but the company stressed that as soon as the Indian smartphone network is ready, it will launch its first set of 5G smartphones.

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has launched its new smartphone ''Vivo Y90'' for Rs. 6,990 under its existing Y-series portfolio. “The Y90 caters to the increasing expectations of our consumers who are on a constant look-out for a device with a bigger battery and bigger display at a highly affordable price point,” said Nipun Marya, Director Brand Strategy, Vivo India. OPPO A9 launched with dual rear cameras in India for Rs 15,490

On Thursday, Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO launched a new smartphone OPPO A9 in India for Rs 15,490. The device features a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone has 16 MP+2 MP rear dual camera setup and a 16MP front camera for selfies. Realme launches Realme X and Realme 3i in India at price starting Rs 7999 & Rs 16999

On Monday, Shenzhen-based handset maker Realme launched two new smartphones -- Realme X and Realme 3i in India priced at Rs 7999 and Rs 16999 respectively for basic variants. The company launched Realme X in two variants of 4 GB RAM and 8 GB RAM while keeping the internal storage at 128 GB for both the variants. The 8 GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 19999. Realme 3i also comes in two variants of Rs 7999 for 32GB, 3GB RAM and Rs 9999 for 64GB, 4GB RAM.

Nokia 9 PureView launched with penta-cam in India for Rs 49,999

HMD Global, that makes and sells Nokia-branded phones, on Wednesday launched the much-anticipated Nokia 9 PureView with Penta-camera set-up in India for Rs 49,999. The smartphone would be available in Midnight Blue colour exclusively on Nokia.com/phones and Flipkart, and from July 17 onwards on top mobile retail outlets in India.

Redmi K20 and K20 Pro to launch in India on July 17

On Friday, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi confirmed that its upcoming smartphones Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are launching in India on July 17. The company's India head Manu Kumar Jain confirmed the launch date in a tweet, saying: "Mi fans, it's time for the knockout punch! #RedmiK20 and #RedmiK20Pro are unleashing on 1+7 17th July 2019! Time for Flagship Killer 2.0." The K20 and K20 Pro both feature a 6.39-inch full-HD+ AMOLED panel with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 91.9 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

Huawei's Honor likely to launch new smartphones next quarter

Chinese technology company Huawei's smartphone brand Honor is likely to launch new devices in the next quarter notwithstanding the US government's ban on software and hardware supplies to the parent firm, according to industry sources. The US government has barred its companies, including Google, from supplying software and hardware to Huawei alleging security risk from the company. Honor sells smartphones based on Google-owned Android platform.

On Friday, Micromax Informatics launched its budget #iOne smartphone with notch display in India for Rs 4,999. Targeted towards new-age consumers, the device comes with 19:9 screen, a 2200mAh battery and a 5MP+5MP dual rear camera with over nine shooting modes. Xiaomi to sell smartphones and accessories via vending machines in India

People can soon buy Xiaomi smartphones and accessories through vending machines, with the Chinese handset maker set to install its own machines in major Indian cities. The latest move comes as the company works on ways to retain its dominant position in the hyper-competitive smartphone market in India. Called as 'Mi Express Kiosk', these vending machines will allow consumers to make purchases and pay for the transaction through credit or debit cards, cash and UPI.

Jivi Mobiles’ manufacturing unit in to be operational in next 3 months

In a bid to strengthen its footprint, home grown mobile phone maker Jivi Mobile said on Thursday that its manufacturing unit in Lonavala, Maharashtra will be fully operational in the next three months, the company said on Thursday.
