Microsoft to end 'Windows 7' support in 2020

Even though Microsoft ended mainstream support for "Windows 7" in January 2015, the software giant has now decided to put a final halt on the roll-out of free security patches also for the operating system (OS) next year. "After January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running ''Windows 7''," the company wrote in a post on Monday. Even after Microsoft ends support for the older OS, users would still be able to operate on it but would not receive any security, software or feature updates.

BSNL partners Eros Now to offer unlimited content subscription to prepaid subscribers

State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has partnered with online video brand Eros Now to offer unlimited content subscription to prepaid subscribers of select plans. The telco in a press release on Monday said that it has signed an agreement with Eros Now which would allow subscribers to access more than 11000 movie titles, music videos, original web shows and exclusive videos.

Microsoft has decided to put an end to "Skype 7.0 - Classic" version in November and will focus on improving "Skype 8" with better features based on user feedbacks. "Support for ''Skype versions 7'', and below will end on November 1, 2018 on desktop devices and November 15, 2018 on mobile and tablet devices," the company wrote in a blog post late on Thursday.
