Lenovo elevates its India chief marketing officer to Asia Pacific level

Chinese PC maker Lenovo said it has elevated its India head of marketing Bhaskar Choudhuri as the chief marketing officer of Asia Pacific.

"Bhaskar Choudhuri has succeeded Nick Reynolds as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Lenovo Asia Pacific, and is responsible for elevating Lenovo's brand across the region," Lenovo said in a statement.

According to market research firm, Lenovo was at third position after HP and Dell in traditional PC market with 21.7 per cent market share at the first quarter of 2018.

Reynolds has been appointed as the company's global Head of Marketing for Digital, Web & Social Media.

In his new role as CMO of Lenovo Asia Pacific, Bhaskar, who is based in Bangalore, India, is tasked with expanding Lenovo's brand footprint in the Asia Pacific region, and driving sales for PCs, tablets and smart devices across diverse markets covering Japan, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.

"He reports to Ken Wong, President of Lenovo Asia Pacific," the statement said.

Reynolds will now report to the company's newly appointed global CMO Gina Qiao.

Prior to this appointment, Bhaskar led the marketing team in India for the last five years, where he was responsible for marketing strategy and aligning marketing to the overall business objectives.

The company forayed in Indian smartphone segment during Bhaskar's tenure.

According to Counterpoint Research, Lenovo (including Motorola) had 2.4 per cent market share globally in smartphone segment.
