Nokia Siemens to help AIS deploy 3G network in Thailand

TT Correspondent | 06 Apr 2013

AIS, Thailand’s top wireless communication service provider has joined hands with Nokia Siemens to deploy 3G network in Thailand

Nokia Siemens will provide its Flexi Multiradio Base Station and packet core solution to AIS along with its mobile turnkey solution and care services, the company’s Operating Support System (OSS) solutions to ensure the quality of AIS’ 3G network.

“Implementing a 3G network is very crucial for us,” said Saran Phaloprakarn, vice president of Network Strategic Planning, AIS. “Nokia Siemens Networks has proven its expertise both technically and commercially throughout its partnership with AIS over the last 20 years. We needed a partner who understands our business, and could deploy and manage our network, enabling us to provide the best service to our growing customer base. Nokia Siemens Networks was the clear choice for us to roll out 3G services to the market.”

“Nokia Siemens Networks and AIS have a long-standing working relationship and have been full partners for years,” said Krittika Mahattanakul, head of Asia North at Nokia Siemens Networks. “Due to our consistent activities with AIS, we have earned its confidence, and AIS knows we can deliver a high-quality mobile broadband network while simplifying its operations and providing insight into what works best for its customers.”

Nokia Siemens Networks will deploy the 3G network using its award-winning Flexi Multiradio Base Station. This will allow AIS to achieve a fast rollout and manage rapidly increasing traffic growth by providing more coverage and capacity simultaneously while preparing for a smooth migration to LTE (long term evolution) and improving the end-user service experience. The project brings together pre-integrated network elements and related professional services. The company’s NetAct, the market leading multi-technology, multi-vendor network management system supported by core network solutions, is also part of the deal.

In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide its packet core for the operator. To serve high data traffic most efficiently, its Flexi NG 3.0 (Network Gateway) will provide multi-dimensional intelligence to AIS’s mobile broadband solution, and its Flexi NS 3.0 (Network Server) will provide mobility and easy access to packet data services.
