TT Correspondent | 05 Mar 2013Idea has added one more 3G smartphone to its smartphone portfolio with the launch of another dual SIM 3G Smartphone – Zealon Tuesday. The launch is a move to upgrade its existing 2G users to 3G.
The dual-SIM Zeal is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and comes with 256 MB of RAM on board with Android 2.3.6 platform.
Idea said that this will play a major catalyst in company’s 3G growth strategy in in semi-urban and rural regions.
“Idea Zeal has been affordably priced to suit the pockets of consumers in semi-urban and rural markets and is aimed at upgrading existing 2G users to 3G”, it said in statement.
The sixth 3G Smartphone from Idea, Zeal, is attractively priced at just Rs. 5,390 and is especially targeted at the youth community comprising of college students and professionals who like to stay connected to social networking sites and access emails on-the-go.
Rajat Mukarji, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Idea Cellular said, “For the past year, Idea has been focused on proliferating 3G in India by developing the entire ecosystem comprising of network coverage, customer service, applications and devices”
Idea Zeal runs on Android 2.3.6 OS with a 3.5-inch touch screen, having a resolution of 320X480 pixels, and a 3MP auto-focus rear camera with Digital zoom. While Zeal comes with an internal memory of 256MB RAM & 512 MB ROM and powerful 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, it also offers an micro SD Card slot compatible for cards up to 32GB. The new smartphone from Idea is loaded with other high-end smartphone features such as Wi-Fi, A-GPS,MP3 Player, Bluetooth, built-in Social Media Apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, unlimited SMS/MMS and phone directory, and pre-loaded Google and Youtube, besides the popular Idea TV.
Idea’s new dual-SIM Zeal comes packed with attractive data usage offer for 3G users. For a pack of Rs. 261, Zeal users can get 1 GB of free data every month for first 3 months, and free Idea TV for first 3 months. The new Idea 3G Smartphone will be available at all major mobile retail stores and Idea outlets across the state.
