Sterlite Tech revamps leadership by making four new appointments

Global data network solutions company Sterlite Tech has revamped its leadership by making four new appointments for the roles of CTO, head of data science, chief human resource officer and head of technology transformation.

The company in an official release on Thursday said that it has appointed Jitendra Balakrishnan, as chief technology officer for optical communications. Balakrishnan will drive the technology growth engine for Sterlite Tech’s optical communications products business, the company said.

Balakrishnan holds a bachelor’s in aerospace engineering from IIT Madras and a doctorate and master’s in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Cornell University. He previously worked multiple roles at the R&D department of Corning for over the last 18 years.

Sterlite Tech appointed Ambica Rajagopal as head of data science, as part of which Rajagopal will lead the company’s advanced data and analytics function.

She has a doctorate in mathematics from Purdue University and a master’s in mathematics from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. She has previously worked at Cummins, KPMG, RMS and Fidelity.

The company has appointed Anjali Byce as chief human resource officer, who has over 18 years of experience and has worked for companies including Tata Motors, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, Cummins, Thermax and SKF.

Manuj Desai has been appointed as the head of technology transformation, as part of which Desai will drive the information technology function. Desai has over 20 years of experience in corporate development, product development, business operations and strategy. He has held senior positions in AIG, PayPal, Sprint Nextel, among others.
