Review--Nokia-Lumia-510

Design:

The Nokia Lumia 510 is simple phone priced at 10,499. Built with plastic body the dimensions of the phone are 120.7 mm, 64.9 mm and 11.5 mm in height, width and thickness. It weights 129 gm. Lumia 510 has Portrait display orientation with 4 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels display. The keys are well placed and good fitted in the body. On the top of the phone is a 3.5 mm earjack. The left side has a USB/connectivity port whereas the right side has volume controls joined by the power key. Below the screens are three capacitive keys for Back, Windows and search. On its back, it holds a 5 megapixels camera and a speaker grill on the bottom.

Interface/OS:

The Lumia 510 works on windows platform and has windows phone 7.5 mango operating system. The Nokia Lumia 510 is power packed with 800 MHz Cortex A-5 processor and 256 MB of RAM. The windows 7.5 mango operating system runs perfectly fine on this device.

Features:

The home screen or the start menu of the Lumia 510 is vertically arranged with live tiles. You can set your own personalized tiles on home screen. Like Facebook, messaging, call alerts, e-mail and etc. It gives you live updates on these tiles as well. Lumia 510 has people hub inherited, which includes: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, email, Chat and SMS. For internet access you get Bling, Internet Explorer 9, HTML, Wi-Fi and Browser. For navigation one gets Bling Maps and Nokia Maps in Lumia 510 and for GPS it has A-GPS in built. Filled with all basic and new home screen feature Nokia has made it value with Lumia 510 but failed short with 256 RAM to give you fast access to these features.

Camera:

The Nokia Lumia 510 has a 5 megapixels main camera with auto focus and 2596 ? 1948 pixels maximum picture resolution. But it lacks with LED flash light that can give perfect resolution to the pictures. It gives 4X digital Zoom to closely check your images and mostly all graphics modes such as JPEG, BMP, etc, to be compatible with all system formats. And no doubt, Nokia has built their image for delivering good quality cameras and Lumia 510 comes with that same quality. The Quality you get with this phone is really amazing. The 5 megapixels camera shoots video in 720 pixels resolution and the outcome is great. But in this same price range other manufacturers provides HD resolution, which gets hard for Nokia to justify.

Audio/Video:

The Audio quality of Lumia 510 is clean and clear. But when on loudspeaker mode, the voice is clear but sounds thick. With access to almost all music formats it has media player supporting both audio and video hub. The music section in the media player consists of albums, songs, playlists, genres and artists. And to store all your downloaded audios and videos you have Podcast section under music folder. With the Lumia 510 you get 3.5 mm universal handset WH – 208 with which you can tune in to FM too if want to enjoy latest tracks and record to your playlist also. The media player plays all your videos, be it downloaded or recorded video or even live browsed video. It gives you 720 pixels sharp resolution that fits best with 4 inches screen size. But it lacks with HD trend that gives edge to its competitors.

Memory:

Lacking majorly in this segment, the Lumia 510 provides only 4GB of inbuilt memory with no micro SD card slot. So, you’ll have to be satisfied with this limited space. Though, it is enough to save you good number of images, few small size videos and data. However, Microsoft SkyDrive is offering 7 GB of free SkyDrive storage.

Battery:

The Nokia Lumia 510 offers you 1300 mAh BP – 3L battery which works just OK with the phone, but thanks to the 256 MB RAM which gives this phone smart Talk Time and Stand By Time. The Talk time on 2G is 6.9 hours and 7.3 on 3G, whereas the Stand By time is almost same to around 400 hours both on 2G and 3G.

Conclusion:

The Lumia 510 of Nokia with this price range has couple of restrictions like, the memory storage is limited to only 4 GB and with no HD video resolution it can surprise you. But apart from these drawbacks Nokia Lumia 510 has made its presence well noticed and has emerged as the best seller for Nokia Lumia series. The 5 megapixels camera is amazing as it gives you sharp and clear images even in less light or indoor shoot. But with 256 MB of RAM you’ll have to wait to switch to another programme or apps instead moving quickly on android. The 7.5 mango Windows operating system is good and fits best in this phone.

We give this phone  4 star rating.
