Review--Samsung-Omnia-M

Design:

The Samsung Omnia M comes in slim and stylish design. With huge 4 inch AMOLED screen size the body of Omnia M is fixed in unbreakable plastic type. The dimension of the handset is 121.6 mm, 64 mm and 10.55 mm in height, width and thickness. It fits best in you hand and weights only 120 gm. Built on the top of phone is a 3.5 mm earjack with volume controls on its left. The right side has two dedicated keys, one on the upper side is the power and lock key and one on the power portion is a camera key which takes you directly to the camera mode. To get your phone charged there is a USB chargeable port on the bottom side.

Features:

The Omnia M comes pre-loaded with specialized applications that allow the social media lovers to share their lives with their family and friends. The Omnia M provides you with bright viewing experience on its huge 4.0” Super AMOLED screen. Powered with a 1GHz processor, the device offers you fast web browsing and multitasking. The device offers a unique tile based Metro User Interface which provides you with panorama view. It is the first Windows phone that comes with ChatOn, Samsung’s unique cross-platform for communication service, which allows you with group chat, rich messaging, fun content sharing and buddy interaction for no cost. With HSDPA 7.2 Mbps connection speed and BT2.1, the Omnia M offers great connectivity options and enables you to make best utilization of the device. The Xbox Live app offers you great quality, consistency and community on the built-in Xbox experience that allows you to access personal gaming information on Xbox LIVE. And also the Tango (mVoIP) via Wi-Fi is an exclusive Samsung video call application which provides you with high voice quality on 3G video calling.

Camera:

Samsung has remained to its basics with Omnia M on camera front. It has a 5 megapixels main camera with LED flash and a VGA front facing camera. The camera image quality is good but it does not give you HD video recording or playback options. However, the video calls made when tested gives clear picture to the caller when kept on a normal distance. Overall, the camera is average; you cannot say it’s amazing.

Audio/Video:

Play, share, and access multimedia entertainment with Omnia M. The audio quality of the phone is nice. And so is the sound quality of in-built MP3 player. The audio playback quality of your recordings and the downloaded files is clear but not that sharp. It has a FM radio function too. The 3.5 mm headset earjack gives perfect sound from media files and the Omnia M supports AAC, AAC+, AAC++, AMR-NB, eAAC+, Enhanced AAC+, MP3, WAV, WM 10, WM 9 and WMA audio formats. The video quality from the main camera is good. The video resolution from main camera is 800 x 480 pixels and 640 x 480 pixels from the front camera. It supports AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, H.263, H.264, MPEG4 video formats. It gives 30 frames per second on video frame rate.

Interface/OS:

Samsung Omnia M works on windows platform and it runs on windows 7.5 Tango operating system. This interface has done justice to this device, but the depressing part is its 384 MB RAM. The latest 7.5 Tango windows operating system allows you to access multiple apps at a time and you can easily swap from one app to another. But the depressing RAM lowers down your process.

Memory:

Lacking far behind in this category, Omnia M gives you only in-built 4 or 8 GB memory space. No micro SD card space and no cloud space are offered with this phone. So this you can say is the biggest drawback of this phone.

Battery:

Samsung Omnia M comes with 1500 mAh capacity Li-ion type battery that works long and durable on this Windows Operating system. This battery when tested, delivers up to 700 hours on 2G and up to 450 hours when on 3G. The stand by time delivered is up to 510 hours on 2G and up to 400 hours on 3G. The battery life is satisfying and need not to be charged again and again.

Conclusion:

The Samsung Omnia M is a beautiful designed phone with less in weight. It gives you plenty of applications and features to enjoy and work on. As well as the battery capacity of this phone is great. But, the limited 4 or 8 GB of memory space will not impress masses. The RAM is just 384 MB, which slows down the process of multitasking and swapping from one application to another. The camera is not also HD, which forces us to give it three star rating.
